The Colouring Craze & a Little Bit of Peace

The grown up colouring craze seems to be continuing at a relentless pace, and I am lucky to have had the chance to sample a good range of the books and magazines on offer.

I find colouring in relaxing and I like the finished images (I generally like the animal prints as they look great framed). It’s been a tough couple of weeks here with one thing and another and I found that in the evenings, when I had too much time to sit and think throwing myself into colouring in was a good way to relax and distract my mind.

Pop into any supermarket, bookshop or newsagent and there are so many different books to choose from. I was recently sent a new range of books from Quercus. The Peace in your Pocket series has four titles, Animal Kingdom, Patterns, In Bloom and Tropical Paradise.  The Vine below gives you an idea of the four books.

These books are quite different to others that I have looked at. Firstly they are pocket sized so sit nicely into a bag (or handbag). Each page also features a quote intended to help relax the mind or inspire thoughts. I’m not usually into this sort of thing but I did like some of these quotes and they have made me think more as I have scribbled and coloured away.

My favourite books in this series are Animal Kingdom and Patterns. I find patterns nice and relaxing to colour; their is something about the orderliness of them that I like.  I also quite like using Sharpies – they give a nice bold colour and the added bonus is that they are currently on offer at Tesco!

When I have struggled to concentrate on anything such as planning things for the children, blogging or cross stitching the short time I have turned to the colouring books has helped me to clear my thoughts has been really useful.

These are such lovely, good quality books and I think they’d make the perfect gift for someone who is looking to gain a bit of relaxation time and I can’t wait to share my copies with friends soon, I am sure they’ll agree how lovely they are.

‘Whatever change today brings, embrace it, knowing that is is a step forward into a new adventure’.

It feels very apt for some of the changes that have taken place recently.
