I’ll admit, I’m not hugely into cosmetics. I have a few staples that I rely on and that’s about it. I was recently asked if I’d like to try some of the Brightening Eye Serum from Oyster Skincare I thought I might as well give it a go.
The serum itself promises a host of ingredients to help with puffiness (I have plenty of that due to wakeful children!), weary eyes and also brighten the skin around the eyes. I won’t pretend to understand the ingredients and the such behind it – there’s more information at the (affiliate) link here on that if you’re interested, but it says it has various vitamins and mood-enhancing essential oils.
The serum itself is in a tube with a pump dispenser and I was surprised at how thick the serum seemed at first. However it was absorbed pretty quickly into my skin and smells really nice. I’ve no idea if it does visibly reduce puffiness etc but it seems to.The pump dispenser helps to ensure you have just the right amount of serum to use.
I have been struggling with hayfever the past week or so as the spring brings with it new flowers and leaves. This sees me rubbing my eyes a lot. I have used the serum a couple of times in the afternoon and it’s helped to ‘cool’ my eye area a little (if that makes sense!) and certainly helped with the irritation I’ve been having from the pollen.
I’m not particularly well up on the ‘science’ of beauty serums and creams and the such. I’m pretty basic in my approach (as you can tell from my the picture of my beauty staples below) but this is a nice cream. It is absorbed into my skin easily without leaving any greasiness and it also smells quite nice too. It has a clean pump dispenser and so it is easy to pop into a bag.
All in all I’m pretty impressed with this from Oyster and will be looking out for any additions to their range.

It sounds lovely! 🙂 I understand the “cooling down” feeling you describe, it’s an incredibly satisfying sensation! x

This sounds like something I could do with myself. Would be great to get rid of dark circles

This looks like a great eye cream – anything with hyaluronic acid in should be hydrating and green tea contains caffeine so it would restrict blood flow and therefore reduce redness!

I actually use a brightening eye serum myself so totally get what you mean by the “cooling” effect. I’ve never heard of this one previously though so thanks for sharing your thoughts on it xx

I’m like you in several respects, I have limited products, I have a wakeful child too, and I have little knowledge of the whys and hows of some beauty language. But, if a products works for me, then I like it. And I do find that eye gels that I have tried before have been wonderful. So I’d be quite tempted to give this one a job from what you’ve said.

I dont think you need to have a whole stash of beauty products, I think you need to have and use what works for you and your skin x
