Our Home Learning Plans

our home learning has taken a bit of a back seat in recent months, but here are our January plans

I haven’t updated for a while about our plans – since Mr H arrived things haven’t been as organised as I’d like, which of course is no bad thing but I think that Mr D in particular benefits from a structure of sorts.

So, over the coming weeks we are going to be focusing on learning about the body. Both the children are really into the programme Nina and the Neurons and have been watching the Brilliant Bodies series in recent week. We have looked at the body before but we will look again in more detail over the coming week. I have a couple of activities lined up around learning about blood and our lungs as well as some general bits and pieces.

our home learning has taken a bit of a back seat in recent months, but here are our January plans

Mr D is ever interested in letters and sounds so I will start to introduce the words to him, and Miss E continues to be happy to work on her letter recognition too. I also intend to bring in some of the Spanish words for the various body parts too as well as some word mats with the words for various body parts on to help him with that word recognition.

Our Spanish class restarts this week and the children are really excited to get back into things. We have been playing lots of games where the can use their Spanish words and I have been trying to teach myself a bit more of the Spanish language too – it’s a slow process for me!

I am also in the process of setting up a sensory basket for Mr H. We have a bit of time together just us to this week so I’ll pop to Dunelm Mill and have a look at the various bits and pieces there and failing that will order some bits from Baker Ross or Imagido.

I have been getting out and about more with the children as well – in part because I was without a car for much of last week due to Damian traveling to London on the bank holiday and then it needing some work doing the rest of the week. It did mean that we wrapped up warm on the Monday and took a stroll to a local park in the frost and we also had a couple of longish walks on the Tuesday and Thursday last week. I am hoping to get along the canal this week, just not too sure when I’ll fit that in as things are quite busy with one thing and another this week, perhaps tomorrow we will head to Bugsworth Basin in Whaley Bridge which looks like a nice place to take a stroll.

I’ll be sharing some of our body learning work and plans over the coming weeks so do pop back to see what we have been up to. If you have any tried and tested resources or experiments then do let me know.

Great suggestions. I really admire you for home schooling. And it’s great you can be so creative with your children.

I look forward to reading about your work about the body. It was a subject I was utterly fascinated with at school. Good luck x
