Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

Mothers Day falls on 15th March here in the UK, and soon the shops will be full of things to buy. I thought I’d share some of my ideas for this mother’s day.

I’ve written before how I am a fan of handmade and the more unique items, many of these are items that I have spotted on facebook groups, etsy etc.

First up… Bath stuff. I used to have a bath every Sunday evening pre children. Sunday night was bath night and the time I would catch up on my books. Sadly I don’t get as many baths and time for R&R as I would like, but when I do I like to have good products. I have had some bathbombs and hand cream from Emma Grace Skincare when they were at a local market a few months back. The bath bombs are lovely and the cream is always in my bag. Perfect.

mothers day gift ideasThese little figures from Ruby Loves are gorgeous – and I think these would look lovely on the chest of drawers in our bedroom or on the new shelving we hope to be putting in our living room soon. Ruby Loves have some lovely little items including family frames and as they are handmade they can be made to suit your family.

word cloud

I also like these word clouds from Marple Word Clouds – perhaps spelling out the word ‘Mum’ with all the things the children think of when they think of mum? I dread to think what Daniel and Emma would say if they were able to verbalise it, but it would be very cute. Emma has one in her room that has her initial and commemorates her Baptism. It’s lovely to look back on and remember.

Chroma StationeryAnother fab idea is a personalised notebook from Chroma Stationery.  I was lucky enough to be sent a notebook to consider for inclusion in a gift guide and I love it. I reckon most mums have a list or two on the go, and these notebooks are perfect for popping into a bag. I always have a couple of notebooks on the go, blog ideas, to do lists, shopping lists etc and I love this personalised one. There are so many different colours to choose from that I am sure I need a few more to co-ordinate with my ipad, my handbag etc…. There are a fair few different options to choose from and if you take a look at their instagram feed you will spot some of the fab personalised covers that have been created. What would you have printed on yours? I love each of the colours has a name, and a meaning behind that name – the colour of the notebook I have is Doris.

Shartisan DesignsDon’t forget the card! Handmade cards are fab and the artist Becky Field has gorgeous ones, as does another of my faves, Smart Creative.

I spotted this cushion in my feed a week or so ago – this is lovely and has the recipients favourite things on. A lovely idea and I am sure would have pride of place in any home. This one is from Shartisan Designs.

Finally, I love the idea of this Colour With Mum book from the team at Buster & O’Mara Books. Most children like colouring in, and I think this is such a brilliant way of having some 1-1 time with your child this mothers day. Daniel and I have used this book and he stays engaged with it because I am sat with him, colouring in in the same book. It’s a lovely idea and the big spiral bound pages make it easy to lay across the table and colour in.

I don’t really mind what the kiddies give me, they are 5 and 9 months so it will probably be a little something hand made at school which will be lovely!

I know it sounds totally cheesy, but big smiles from my little one really are the best things to get (on any day!) 🙂
Not sure what I’m going to give my own mum yet… I had planted some bulb bowls before xmas in the hope that there would be a perfect floral display by mothers day… but I fear this may not be the case… back to the drawing board!
