Fisher Price Think & Learn Teach ‘n Tag Movi

Fisher Price Think & Learn Teach ‘n Tag Movi

We reviewed some Fisher Price items a couple of months back and they’ve been such a big hit that when we were offered the chance to take a look at the new Fisher Price Think & Learn Teach ‘n Tag Movi I knew it was one I couldn’t turn down.

The suggested age range is 3-6 for this toy, meaning Miss E at 3, and Mr D at almost 5 are the perfect target audience.  They were pretty excited to see this one and were pressing the buttons on his tummy before I’d even got it out of the delivery box. It didn’t take me too long to unpackage Movi, and happily once it’s out of the box you just need to click in place the back wheel and then you’re ready to go. Miss E and Mr D were very keen to get started with it so I was happy it didn’t require a lot of setting up.

Movi has three buttons on his front that as soon as you press them he chatters away to you. There are three fun play modes with Movi, Alpha Fun Actions, Think and Move Shapes and Learn and Play Games. I think all three have been played with quite a lot and the children seem to enjoy all three equally. You activate each play mode by pressing one of the buttons. Movi will play a game and then ask if you want to play that mode again, or not, simply pressing the red or green buttons on his head to choose.

Movi is pretty cute and has a lot of different faces (the blurb says he has 60 faces and I don’t doubt it as there certainly seems to be a lot) and he is good fun and chatters away. The three wheels give him 360 degree movement – perfect for when he asks the children to create a circle or to wiggle like a snake. I’ve been really impressed with the range of movement this toy has and it’s fun to watch the children jump around after him.

I like Movi as he is an interactive toy that invites the children to complete tasks that promote some of those early critical thinking skills as well as demonstrating they understand his instructions. Movi has been a big hit here although we have had to move him upstairs as Mr H was getting a bit heavy-handed with him – but like all Fisher Price toys Movi is sturdy and has stood up well to some rather heavy ‘tackling’ by a toddler!

The age range I think is right for this toy – and I can see how Miss E and Mr D respond differently to it., taking different things away from him that are appropriate to their age and stage. There is a lot that it offers and it is still a well played with toy some three or four weeks on which leads me to think that children aren’t finding it repetitive at all.

It works well on both our thick rug and laminate/wooden flooring and crosses the rug on onto the laminate easily. Happily Movi comes with batteries and they’ve not shown any signs of running out yet. There is also an on/off switch too which can be useful. I’m pretty impressed with Movi and he is a nice addition to our toybox. I think he represents pretty good value for money and is well made and thought out.
