Mr H was recently asked to try out some of the new Fisher Price range of toys and we were really pleased to take part. Fisher Price is one of those brands that really stands out for me in the children’s toy market – it’s a brand I remember from my own childhood and I think we probably have one of two of my old toys that the children play with!
We were sent three items from the Bright Beats Range and they’ve all been big hits with Mr H!
The favourite has been the very cute BeatBo Junior. This is a little BeatBo that is the perfect size for little hands to handle. He comes to life when your litlte one gives him a bop on the head – much to Mr H’s delight! There are some bright lights that flash on and lots of singing and music playing. Mr H really likes this one and often handles it getting it to play a song then dances along by bobbing up and down!
As you can see the little character is the perfect size for Mr H to handle (11 months old). The head bobbles away and when Mr H swats and bats at it it plays songs, makes sounds and flashes lights from it’s tummy area. It really is a great little toy and it’s the right size for popping into a changing bag for trips out.
He also quite likes the car from the BeatBo Buggies range that we were sent. This, like the above, is the perfect size for little hands to manipulate. It has been fun to watch him try to roll the car along – he understands he can push it along and has worked out now which part he needs to press to get the music to play. Mr D (at four years old) also likes this and sings away to the songs it plays – I was surprised just how quickly he has mastered the words to the songs! Mr H is pretty quick with his unique style of crawling; it’s a sort of right legged bum shuffle around the room. He is getting much better at pushing his BeatBo Buggy along as he goes too!
The final thing we were sent is the Bright Beats Learnin’ Light Dance Mat. This was a really big hit initially with him and he would crawl over, push at the buttons and bob away dancing to it. The mat is a lot of fun with lots of interesting things for him to interact with. I like the big BeatBo in the middle and Mr H was really take with this at first – trying to pull it down to hug!
It seems that this Fisher-Price Dance Mat, whilst great, is less of a hit with him than the two other items from the range and it’s lost a little bit of it’s initial appeal now. It is, however, a big hit with Mr D and Miss E and they particularly like the ABC song. I like that this is something that spans the age range of the three chidlren, and Mr H is definitely more engaged with it when his older siblings are singing along too.
We aren’t particularly well up on electronic toys; we have a lot of wooden toys or things like play kitchens and building blocks but it’s nice to have these as part of the toy rotation. They’re certainly interesting to all three children, and it’s nice for Mr H to be able to play along with his siblings. The BeatBo Junior has already been declared to be an alien for when they’re playing ‘space’ next and the buggy has been into the jungle that the older two set up last week. Great fun for all concerned!
Fisher Price products are, as you would expect, well made and sturdy and I think they provide pretty good value for money. They’re bright and colourful and help contribute to the development of a range of skills in young children. To see more from the range please visit here.
I was sent the three items above in exhcange for a fair and honest review. All words, opinions and images are my own.
