A Summer walk to Hollingworth Lake

A Summer walk to Hollingworth Lake

During the week we took the short trip to Hollingworth Lake as the weather was so nice. It isn’t a place we head to that often (in fact I think our last trip there was on our second wedding anniversary – and we have been married almost seven years).

Hollingworth LakeWe are spoilt in some ways in that we have a lovely lake nearby which is a short five minute journey so we tend to head there. However we were meeting Damian’s sister and Hollingworth Lake is probably more or less the midway point).

The weather was lovely so we met up at 10:30 – I’m glad we opted for the morning as it got really warm in the afternoon and it would have been a little warm for Daniel and Emma (and me!) to walk around.

The lake itself is lovely and there are some fabulous views out across Scout Moor and the hills. We saw some geese and ducks and Daniel and Emma had a nice run around the small play area (which is really an agility type course for older children). We stopped halfway round as Damian’s sister needed to feed her 10 week old so we took a quick stop at the cafe and got a drink before heading off again.

Daniel started to get tired just after the halfway point so Damian took Emma in the ergo and I had Daniel in the tula. It’s nice to get the Ergo baby carrier out for Emma as I really do love it. I tend to use the Rose & Rebellion a lot with her but decided to give the Ergo another outing. It really is super comfy.

The Tula is also great and I can carry Daniel for miles when he is in it. He also likes it too and enjoys snuggling up into my back – cuddles can be rare these days!

It was a lovely way to spend a few hours and both Daniel and Emma fell sound asleep on the way home (and both stayed asleep once we got into the house too!)
